Unfortunately, due to measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection announced in Russia and the transition of the FEFU campus to remote mode for the period up to May 1st, 2020, the dates of the International scientific conference “90 years of applied botany in the Russian Far East” are changing. The approximate time of the Conference is the first decade of October 2020, but we will be able to inform you about the exact dates in early summer.

October 21, 2019 marked 120 years since the founding of now Far Eastern Federal University, and December 30, 2019 – 90 years since the opening of the Far Eastern experimental station of now Federal research center N.I. Vavilov all-Russian Institute of plant genetic resources in the fields of the agricultural faculty of FEU by Nikolay Vavilov.

At the turn of the century, specialists from FEU and VIR made a great contribution to the study, conservation and use of genetic resources of Primorye and the entire Far East for the needs of the region and the whole country. At present, the accumulated experience and knowledge create a significant basis for the development of research on plant genetic resources, genetic and biotechnologies, the practical application of their results to ensure public health, food and technological security of the region, and stimulate broad scientific and practical cooperation.

To discuss pressing problems and prospects of development of applied botany in the region, in order to address the challenges of improving the quality and productivity of crops and involving in economic circulation of new crops, and to implement the priorities of the Strategy of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, the national project “Science”, the State program of development of the Far East and the Arctic, solving problems of import substitution VIR, FEFU and VSGB  in cooperation with partners are organizing the International conference “90 years of applied botany in the Far East of Russia: role in the development of the region” in the following thematic areas:

  1. Genetic technologies for future crop production
  2. Plant resources
  3. Marine plant resources
  4. Crop production-the basis of agriculture of the future

The structure of the conference:

Plenary, sectional and poster presentations are planned for the conference. The final program of the conference and the composition of talks of the sections will be defined after closure of application process. Each participant can submit only one report (it is possible to participate in another report as a co-author).

 

Registration for participation in the conference and submission of abstracts is until 01.04.2020 by e-mail with completed application form and abstract to be sent to 90DVOS@vir.nw.ru  (application form in the.doc file with the name of the applicant – Ivanov.doc, abstracts with the name in the form of Name_abstract – Ivanov_abstract.doc). Applications and abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

90DVOSVIR_rules for abstracts

Abstracts to be submitted in electronic form to 90DVOS@vir.nw.ru  in accordance with the requirements for abstracts (below). One abstract is accepted from each author as the first author and no more than one extra abstract as a co-author. Abstracts will be published in the author’s edition, and therefore the authors are responsible for the accuracy and content of the submitted material. The conference organizing Committee reserves the right to select abstracts from the submitted pool. Abstracts that are not prepared in accordance with the requirements will not be accepted. Abstracts will be published in electronic form by the Conference&

 

Requirements for abstracts

Abstracts are accepted as .doc or .docx files. For each abstract no more that 2 pages of A4 format (210 x 297 mm), portrait orientation, margins 2.5 cm, font Times New Roman 12 pt, line spacing 1, indentation 1.25.  Latin names of taxa should be italicized. Abstracts are submitted without hyphenation, no more than 1 table and 1 figure are allowed. List of references no more than 5 authors.

Text structure:

TITLE OF THE REPORT in English (bold, uppercase letters);

Authors ‘ full names (bold, lowercase letters); institution, city, country in English;

email address (italics, lowercase letters);

main text; list of references (lowercase letters).

 

Conference fee:

1.         The conference fee – 15,000 rubles.

2.         For participants from state institutions from Russia and CIS countries – reduced fee of 2,000 rubles.

3.         For VSGB members, the reduced fee is 1,000 rubles.

4.         For undergraduate and PhD students – participation is free.

 

NB! Attention of postgraduates and young scientists (up to and including 35 years of age at the beginning of the conference):

The Program Committee of the conference holds a competition for the best research of young scientists who submitted report for the Conference. 3 best reports will bring their first authors compensation for travel expenses to the Conference venue and back. The best author will be granted the right to get one month internship at VIR in the summer of 2020, with compensation for travel expenses and provided accommodation.

Interested students and young scientists should submit application form, abstract and presentation of the report in pdf to the organizing Committee at 90DVOS@vir.nw.ru  until 15.02.2020. Please, use the indication “contest of young_name” in the subject line.
